How It All Began
It began in a bunker, with one good idea and a choice: to stay strong, to create, and to help others do the same. Chic Shelter was born during one of Israel’s hardest times — when sirens filled the air and running to shelters became part of daily life. Out of that chaos came creativity. What began as a simple idea — designing aprons and home items inside a bunker — grew into a way to give back: to share hope, strength, and connection. Fear was never an option for me. While young soldiers risked their lives to protect us, I felt my role was to stay strong — to create, to uplift, to bring light into the darkness. What seemed like just a small, lighthearted idea at first turned into something others believed in.
Their encouragement kept me going — and together, we turned that spark into something meaningful. To all those who have cheered me on — you became part of this light. Chic Shelter isn’t mine alone; it belongs to everyone who helps carry its message forward: to remember, to support, to bring light. Because when someone wears or uses a Chic Shelter piece, it’s more than a product — it’s a reminder. A conversation piece. A quiet tribute to those who have sacrificed so that we can live in safety and light. We cannot allow ourselves to forget that. EVER.

Meet Nurit
Saleswoman, entrepreneur, designer, dancer, swimmer, knitter, wife, mother, grandmother, and volunteer English tutor — I wear many hats, but they all share one purpose: to bring light wherever I can. My name, Nurit, means “light.” It’s a daily reminder to illuminate even the darkest moments with compassion, creativity, and courage. Born Jewish, I try to honor that legacy by learning from our sages and from the resilience of our people — how to persevere and find meaning through adversity. Chic Shelter is my reflection and my therapy — a way to communicate, to give back, and to help heal. It’s a multipurpose effort: raising funds for injured soldiers and their families, countering misinformation, and giving voice to the hidden struggles of a society living with trauma — the anxiety, the depression, and, yes, even the suicides that come when pain feels unbearable. Yet within it all, there is resilience — a quiet courage, a stubborn hope, and the light that refuses to go out.
